Raised above the ground, with 70 packets of seeds hidden within its grass, this 17-metre-long flower-bed is an indictment of the latest form of Colonialism: biopiracy.
Four examples of the motifs and texts by the artist, Ines Doujak, are to be found on the carrier bags, which can be purchased in the documenta 12 shops and in the documenta 12 bookstores for a nominal charge of 0.50 euros.
A book featuring illustrations of all the different packets of seeds displayed at documenta 12 is scheduled to be published in September 2007.
