Following a series of lectures and workshop in July 2007, the cultural education project “Know German” (Angelika Bartl, Sophie Goltz, Andrea Hubin, Susanne Hesse together with Stephan Fürstenberg) is now presenting the results of the second part of its project:
As part of the documenta’s children’s and youth art education programme aushecken, a workshop was held from 3 to 5 September in which youngsters aged between 15 and 20 shot a film on the documenta and its visitors. Under the motto “How do you view the documenta”, and in collaboration with the media experts from the anti-racist network kanak attack (Marcin Michalski, Thorsten Winsel) and a Kassel-based filmmaker (Adam Vickery), they set out to explore the exclusion mechanisms of the institution. Is the documenta perhaps a “white ghetto”?

Presentation of the results of the cooperation between the documenta 12 advisory board project Here with us and the art mediation programme. Following the first intensive collaboration between documenta 12’s art mediation service and Kassel’s local children’s and youth network, an appraisal of their work has now been conducted: Has the children’s and youth network in Kassel been changed by the documenta 12? What form did this cooperation take? And how should it continue?
