The Transfer of Knowledge and Networking – Art Education Projects
In addition to the numerous tours offered at the documenta 12, educators will present a number of other art education formats in highly diverse projects.
These projects are directed at groups of people with special interests and background knowledge, who will be invited to visit the exhibition along with educators, before subsequently responding to them in various ways.
In this context, encounters will be staged with a number of groups that would otherwise never have sought a dialogue with documenta 12 of their own accord. Additional projects will be geared toward educational institutions, such as schools, universities, voluntary associations and self-help groups which are closely related to the three leitmotifs of the exhibition and which have a specific interest in reflecting on art education. Some of the projects will be staged in close cooperation with the documenta 12 advisory committee and thus tie in with local initiatives. However, the resulting transfer of knowledge will also go beyond the local context: groups from other Germany cities, Europe and from other continents will be invited to work and gain experience within the context of this world art exhibition.
In this way, art education at the documenta 12 will contribute to the establishing of a network between various formats in art education and the creation of a heterogeneous audience.
In collaboration with Kulturzentrum Schlachthof e.V. documenta 12 art education programme will implement about 18 projects with support from the Fonds Soziokultur e.V., the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung and the Hesse branch of the Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung.
